COMPLIANCE & GAME PROTECTION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

To receive a Certificate in Compliance and Game Protection from Saint Cloud State University, participants must earn a total of 8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). One CEU is awarded for each topic you attend at an approved Buss Productions workshop. (See the list of topics below). There will be two topics (2 days) at each workshop. You may enter the program at any time. The workshops will be offered in the four regions of the United States at Indian owned hotels and casinos where possible. Our presenters are nationally known experts on Indian Gaming Regulatory issues and procedures. Participants not interested in working toward a certificate may enroll in workshops for training in a specific subject. Each attendee will receive a Certificate of Attendance for completing the workshop. |

| 1. Roles and Responsibilities of Gaming Commissioners and Compliance and Surveillance Officers: Learn what NIGC and IGRA specifies as the basic structure of Gaming Commissions and the roles of Compliance and Surveillance Officers, tribes and casinos - how these department are interrelated and how they must work together to attain complete game protection. 2. MICS: This is an in-depth workshop on reporting requirements for IGRA, NIGC, IRS and your Gaming Commission. The workshop will also focus on how to improve MICS reporting procedures throughout the casino and make sure all your bases are covered. 3. Recognizing and Preventing Cheating, Both External and Internal: A thorough review of the latest scams and the latest technology to protect your operation. 4. Casino Protection Operations: Effective systems to secure all casino operations - hard count, soft count, surveillance monitoring, surveillance review sheets, slot data systems, money drops, table game procedures, the casino cage and surveillance asset protection. 5. Title 31 and SARC Reporting: The Department of the Treasury, FinCen is making significant changes for suspicious activity reporting. Attend this workshop to get an update and learn how to make sure your casino is in compliance with the IRS and NIGC. 6. Background Investigation: In-depth training on employee and vendor background checks-methods of investigating, checking references and due diligence. 7. Environmental, Health and Safety Regulatory Requirements: This workshop will help compliance officers set up procedures to maintain all environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements. The workshop will also review OSHA standards for casinos. 8. Reporting Procedures: How to write reports and maintain records, files and statistics on all compliance issues. How to set up computer systems for reporting and how to streamline the process. 9. Communication Skills - Internal and External: Attain effective techniques of communication with each other as well as with patrons, casino personnel and outside agencies. The session will also teach dispute and conflict resolution skills. 10. Risk Management: Protect your operation from unnecessary lawsuits and ensure safety within your casino. This workshop will also cover complying with your compact in the area of risk management. 11. Surveillance Training from the Ground Up: An in-depth workshop for surveillance officers, covering all aspects of effective surveillance methods and reporting procedures. 12. The Compliance Officers Job from the Ground Up: Roles and responsibilities of compliance officers. Reporting requirements and how to work effectively with casino employees and management. 13. History of IGRA: Analyze the importance of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) and what it means for regulating Indian gaming and look at the History of IGRA. 14. Internal Revenue Service and the Casino: This session will prepare you for the IRS compliance examination and potential audits from the IRS. 15. Fiscal Duties: For Compliance, Regulators and Tribal Leaders. Learn to read the numbers and what they mean to regulating your casino. |
